A cinematic waterfront cultural destination. Burlington, Ontario.
The SkyClub
Directly opposite The Pearle, The SkyClub completes the Burlington waterfront. Through their shared connection to the lake, their architectural presence, and their commitment to the community, the two buildings become the twin pillars of Burlington's waterfront.
Two buildings. One story.
The SkyClub
The SkyClub is a cinematic waterfront cultural event destination integrating immersive spatial storytelling and interactive digital systems. A fusion of big band and swing tradition mixed with the light and life of the future, designed to enhance our experience of music and of each other.
The original Brant Inn Sky Club stood on this waterfront from the 1930s through the 1960s, hosting Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, and crowds of over a thousand people on a typical night. It was demolished in 1968. Today only a heritage plaque remains.
The SkyClub is not a nostalgia project. It is a proposition: that this site, this community, and this moment deserve something genuinely extraordinary. Built on the water, visible from Lakeshore Drive and the Hamilton Skyway, and designed to be experienced from the water's edge.
ARTISTIC FOCUS
My practice treats space as a medium. Using Unreal Engine as a real-time research environment, I develop immersive spatial concepts that test atmosphere, light, movement, and collective experience before anything physical exists. This is not visualization. It is a methodology for understanding what it will feel like to be present in a space.
The SkyClub is the expression of this approach, a cinematic waterfront cultural destination that fuses the heritage of Burlington’s original Sky Club with the spatial and technological possibilities of now. A place designed not just to host events, but to be somewhere worth coming back to.
My work investigates how sound, lighting, materiality, and spatial sequencing can be choreographed to shape social and emotional connection within shared environments. I approach digital simulation as active research, each environment built and inhabited before it is ever proposed to a client or institution.
Full site programmable lighting and atmosphere. Every event is completely different.
DMX Integration
Lake-sourced water show system integrated into the exterior promenade.
Water Features
Solar roof generation, rooftop water collection, underwater turbines.
Sustainability
SPATIAL ATMOSPHERE STUDY
A spatial study built in Unreal Engine 5, investigating how minimal intervention, light, materiality, and sequence can transform an open public space into somewhere that feels intentional.
